A Note From The President...

Dear Members,

With anticipation and excitement on June 1, 2011, I assumed my position as President of the WNY Chapter of WBASNY. Hopefully most of you know me but for those of you don’t, I am entering my eighth year with HoganWillig, PLLC where I practice as a litigation associate primarily in the civil/commercial area. I have also been on the WNY WBASNY Board for seven years. The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York is made up of 18 chapters across the state. I am honored to serve under Karen Richardson, Esq., who is the President of the statewide organization.

My goal this year is to provide our members with programs and information on healthcare issues and access to healthcare. For example, WBASNY is partnering with Windsong Radiology and the Erie County Cancer Services Program on October 15th to provide free mammograms to women over 40 who either do not have insurance or are underinsured. I hope to offer programs like this not only to our members but also for women in the community.

The Western New York Chapter of the Women's Bar Association of Western New York supports women lawyers and law students in Western New York by providing a local community in which to promote the advancement of the status of women in society and in the legal profession, and the fair and equal administration of justice; and by acting as a forum through which to communicate the voice of its members with respect to issues of statewide, national, and international significance to women generally and to women attorneys in particular.

The Mission of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York is to:

• Promote the advancement of the status of women in society and of women in the legal profession;
• Promote the fair and equal administration of justice; and
• Act as a unified voice for its members with respect to issues of statewide, national and international significance to women generally and to women attorneys in particular.
